Junior League Liverpool Area Final - 20/09/2009
BMSS’s youngsters competed in the Junior League Final at Everton Park finishing in a very creditable 5th position. Swimmers, Parents and Coaches all contributed in setting an electric atmosphere for the competition which sees the top squads from the north west clash in a highly competitive affair.
BMSS Head Coach Ian Spencer was proud of the team’s performance and noted:
“I really enjoyed seeing our young swimmers come together and compete as a team. Getting the swimmers, parents and coaches to unite as a team is essential if we are to develop in to a squad capable of winning these competitions.
I felt that all of the team members were a credit to BMSS displaying full commitment to their races and helping to support their team-mates. I must mention the contribution of the 12 year old girls team of: Emily Barclay, Kristel Robinson, Bryony Smith and Vicky Whitehead whose energy and enthusiasm lifted the whole team.
Although we only won one race on the day we have to remember the standard of opposition that we were up against. Congratulations to Lisa Banks on her marvellous victory in the 50 breaststroke and to all those swimmers who recorded personal best times. What really matters now is how we move forwards as a team, if we can show the same energy, enthusiasm and commitment in training then we will become stronger.
Thanks also to our coaches Tom McManus and Jo Grime, Swimmers Beth McArt, Nathan Oxborrow, Rebekah Atkinson and all the parents who gave their support on the day.”
